Design a child's toy using a piece of Modern Art as a precedent.  Then, design a Montessori School using the toy as a precedent.

By diagramming a piece from Piet Mondrian's New York series, various layers were discovered and extrapolated into three-dimensional models.  The construction of the physical models informed the design of the toy as a kit of parts that could be re-constructed in any variety of ways.  A simple framework of sticks, blocks, slotted pieces and a container that can serve as a base during play yield to the child's creativity while building fine motor skills.
